BK. (Bryan) Hearn

HALL OF HONOUR
as a member for OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION

Bryan was born in Chesham Buckinghamshire in the UK and migrated to Australia in 1971.  

He has contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach, Trainer and Administrator. A Life Member at Parafield Gardens SC and Elizabeth Districts Junior Soccer Association and received the Meritorious Service Award from the SASF. Bryan has been Chairman of the EDJSA, Chairman of SASF Junior Premier League and also a Member of the SASF Board of Commissioners and a Member of the SAASL Disciplinary Committee.

He was SAASL State Team Trainer for the National Championships in 1979 & 1980 and over the years has been a committee member at Parafield Gardens, Salisbury United and Para Hills. He was also a member of the LOC for the FIFA World Youth Championships in 1993/94.

Bryan has been associated with the game of football in South Australia in excess of 32 years.

 

 

A. (Arthur) Di Fede

HALL OF HONOUR
as a member for OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION

Arthur was born in Benevento Italy and migrated to Australia in 1958

He has contributed to the game of football as a Player and Administrator, Life Member of the FFSA and Campbelltown City SC.

Arthur has been the Chairman at Campbelltown City, Chairman of Futsal SA and Vice Chairman of the SASF. Between 1980 & 2013 he was also Chairman of various committees including, All Appeals, League Executive, Referees, Junior Premier League, Referees Commission and 2nd Division Management. A Member of the SASF Board in 1990 and from 1997 became a SASF Commissioner until 2004.

Arthur has been associated with the game of football in South Australia in excess of 50 years.

Richie was born in Adelaide, South Australia

Contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach and Development Officer

Played 9 times for Australia at U/23 level, 4 times at U/20 level and twice for South Australia, Played in excess of 270 games in the NSL    with West Adelaide, South Melbourne, Brisbane Strikers and Adelaide United plus in excess of 155 games in the SA local leagues

Won 3 Sergio Melta Medals 2004, 2009 & 2010 all with Raiders plus the Bob Telfer Medal with Port Adelaide in 1993, was club Player of  the Year 7 times

 

S. (Sharon) BLACK

HALL OF CHAMPIONS

Sharon was born in Adelaide, South Australia

Contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach, Player Life Member SAWSA and Life Member Sturt Marion

Played 62 times for Australia at senior level including the Women’s World Cup in the USA 1999 and the Olympic Games in 2000

Winner of the Julie Dolan Medal (Best Player Women’s National Soccer League) 1997/98, SAWSA Player of the Year 5 times 1989, 1991, 1992, 2007 & 2008, SAWSA Premier League Championship Medal 5 times 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 & 2008, SAWSA Cup Winners Medal 3 times 1995, 1996 & 1997, Won Danish League Championship Medal 2002/03, Danish Cup Winners Medal 2001/02 and UEFA Women’s Cup Runners-up Medal 2002/03 all with Fortuna Hjorring Denmark

Jim was born in Rhodes Greece

Contributed to the game of football as a Player, Referee, Linesman, 4th Official, Referee Inspector and Administrator, Life Member Australian Soccer Referees Federation – SA Division  

Officiated in over 1000 games including in excess of 150 games in the NSL plus 10 Internationals and 11 State Representative games, has officiated in the Semi Finals and Finals of the Fed Cup, West End Cup, Ampol Cup, Coca Cola Cup and the Top 5 of the NSL

Currently a Referees Inspector and has been associated with the game in South Australia for over 56 years

Played 30 times for Australia at senior level and has also represented Australia at Schoolgirl and U/16 levels. Selected in the SAWSA All Stars Team on 4 separate occasions

SAWSA Player of the Year 5 times, Club Best Player 4 times, Top SAWSA Goal Scorer twice, Top Club Goal Scorer 3 times, Club Players Player of the Year twice, most consistent SAWSA State Player 1995 and Best Player State team 1996, was also Vice-Captain of the inaugural Adelaide United W-League team

 

T. (Tony) VIDMAR

Tony was born in Adelaide South Australia

Contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach, inducted into the National Hall of Fame 2009 and is a Player Life Member FFSA

Played 91 times for Australia, of which 76 were “A” Internationals, Played 19 times for the National U/23 side, 5 times for South Australia and has been involved in 4 World Cup campaigns

Played 182 NSL games, of which 149 games were for Adelaide City before playing overseas with various clubs including Ekeren, NAC Breda, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City, Won numerous Championship Medals in Australia and Overseas, is currently Head Coach of SASI

D. (Dianne) ALAGICH

HALL OF CHAMPIONS 
as a member for OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE  

Di was born in Woodville, South Australia. She has contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach and Ambassador and is a Player Life Member of the Football Federation SA.
Di has played 92 times for Australia of which 86 were “A” Internationals, represented South Australia at U/16, U/19 and Senior level. Competed in 3 Women’s World Cup campaigns 1999, 2003 & 2007 and 2 Olympic Games Tournaments 2000 & 2004, also played in the USA Women’s League with San Jose Cyber Rays 2001 – 2003 

Won Australia’s International Player of the Year Award and SASI Soccer Athlete of the Year in 2004 and South Australian Sports Star of the Year – Peoples Choice Award in 2008

 

T. (Ted) IULIANO

ROLL OF HONOUR 
as a member for DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTION 

Ted migrated to Australia in 1958 from Campania Region, Italy.

He has contributed to the game of football as an Administrator and is a Life Member of the FFSA and Adelaide Blue Eagles.

Chairman and Board representative for the SASF First Division Management Committee 1981-84, SASF Council Delegate to the Australian Soccer Federation 1981-83, Vice Chairman SASF 1992-97, Member of the Local Organizing Committee for the FIFA World Youth Championships 1993, Tour Leader for the Australia Today – Indonesia 94 tour of Indonesia 1994. Board Member FFSA and Chairman of the Finance Committee 2005-2010. Associated with the game of football in South Australia in excess of 35 years

 

M. (Michael) BROOKS

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
as a member for DISTINGUISHED PERFORMANCE

Michael was born in Whyalla South Australia.

He has contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach and is a Player Life Member of the FFSA.

Played 279 games in South Australia scoring 202 goals, an additional 136 games in the National League and played 23 times for South Australia, 15 of which were as Captain. Michael has won 4 SA Championship Medals 1993, 1995, 2000 & 2001, 4 Golden Boot Awards 1996, 2000 2001 & 2002 and has won 5 club Best Player Awards.

Won the Sergio Melta Medal, (SA Player of the Year Award) in 1996.

 

Z. (Zoran) KARADZIC

ROLL OF HONOUR
as a member for MERITORIOUS CONTRIBUTION

Zoran migrated to Australia in 1991 from Zemun, Belgrade, Serbia.

He has contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach.
Played 155 games for Adelaide Blue Eagles and represented South Australia on 6 occasions. Has won 4 SA Premier League Championship Medals 1992, 1994, 1995 & 1996, also won 3 Federation Cup Winners Medals 1995, 1997 & 1998. As a Coach he won the League and Cup double in 1995 and Premier League Championship in 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000 & 2001.

Zoran won the Alex Hastings Medal in 1994 & 1995 and also won the SA Coach of the Year Award in 1995.

Peter migrated to Australia in 1949 from Careri (Reggio, Calabria) Italy.

He has contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach, Referee and Administrator and is a Life Member of Adelaide City and Eastern Zone Primary Schools Soccer Association.

Member of the Eastern Zone Committee 1965-2001, 2007-2009, Vice Chairman Eastern Zone Committee 1978-1980, 1984-1991, Committee Member Adelaide Colts Junior Assoc 1975-86, Vice President Adelaide City 1982-91, Delegate to SAWSA 1986-87. Coached Far Eastern Zone, Eastern Zone, East Adelaide Zone,and Torrens River Zone, won Championships as Co-Coach of Eastern Zone 1978 and as Coach of Torrens River Zone 2007. Associated with the game of football in South Australia in excess of 57 years.

Chic was born in Innisfail, Queensland and came to South Australia in 1950.

He has contributed to the game of football as a Sports Trainer and Administrator and is a Life Member of Adelaide City.

Head Trainer of Juventus 1960-76, Adelaide City NSL 1977-81, Adelaide City Juniors 1982-92, Adelaide City Women’s team 1993-2000, 2003-2006. Head Trainer for the SA State team 1968-73, Trainer for the Australian National team tour to Vietnam 1970, SA Women’s team 2000-2001 tours to Kuala Lumpur and New Zealand, Adelaide Villa 2001-2002, SA Women’s Masters team 2005, Adelaide Galaxy 2007 and MetroStars currently. Treasurer and Member of the inaugural SA Trainers AsSAsociation 1967.

Born in Melbourne, Victoria

Contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach and Manager, Player Life Member SASF.
Played 522 NSL games (NSL Record) over 20 years, Won 3 NSL Championships, 2 National Cup Winners Medals, an Oceania Champions Medal and Winner of the Joe Marston Medal in 1991-92 and 1993-94, Australia’s most capped male footballer with 87 Full International appearances and 113 overall appearances, appeared in 2 World Cup campaigns 1994 and 1998 and captained Australia on 30 different occasions

Inducted into the FFA National Hall of Fame 2007 

 

A. (Aurelio) VIDMAR

as a member for OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Born in Woodville, South Australia 

Contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach.

Played 294 NSL games (267 with Adelaide City) scoring 52 goals, NSL Player of the Year 2001 and Winner Golden Boot Award 2000/1, in 1994/5 at Standard Liege was Belgium’s top goal scorer with 22 goals and was voted Oceania’s Player of the Year 1995, represented Australia in 3 World Cup campaigns also the Confederations Cup in 1997 and 2001 and the Olympic Games in Atlanta USA 1996. Played 53 games for Australia 7 as Captain scoring 18 goals

Adelaide United FC inaugural Club Captain and later became Assistant and then Head Coach. 

 

W.I.S (Iain) GOSSLAND

Migrated to Australia in 1967 from Glasgow, Scotland

Contributed to the game of football as an Administrator, Life Member SAASL and SASF.

Member of the SAASL Management Committee 1975 to 2002, President 1978 to 1996, initiated the formation of the SA Amateur League Referees Assoc in 1978, appointed interim Chairman 1978 and Referee Appointments Secretary 1978 to 1993. Member of the SASF Board 1982 to 1991 and Member of the SASF Players Appeals Committee in 1992 and First President of the Australian (National) Amateur Soccer Assoc 1977

N. (Nick) Bianco AM

As a member for outstanding contribution

Migrated to Australia in 1958 from Baselice, Provence of Benevento (Campania), Italy.

Contributed to the game of football as a Patron, Ambassador and Supporter of the game with significant and continuous Managerial and Financial assistance in excess of 25 years.

The extent of involvement and support has been outstanding with most of the football world in South Australia being affected at some stage including NSL, SASF, FFSA, Super, Premier and State League teams, SAASL, Women’s teams, Junior teams plus Associations and their individual clubs.

 

D. (David) MITCHELL

HALL OF CHAMPIONS
As a member for outstanding performance

Migrated to Australia in 1969 from Glasgow, Scotland.

Represented South Australia at junior level Under 12, 13 and 14 and played for Enfield Victoria, also played for Adelaide City (NSL) between 1980 and 1982 and again in 1984, playing 40 games and scoring 15 goals. In 1981 was the NSL Under 21 Player of the Year.

Represented Australia on 44 occasions scoring 15 goals also represented Australia in the World Youth Championships in 1981 and the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. The first Australian to play in four Senior World Cup campaigns 1982-86-90-94 and was the first Australian to play in the Scottish Premier League, German Bundesliga and the Dutch Premier League.

Inducted into the FFA Hall of Fame in 2006 in the Hall of Champions as a member for Outstanding Perfromance.

 

W.J. (Wendy) CARTER

ROLL OF HONOUR
As a member for distinguished contribution

Migrated to Australia in 1982 from Birmingham, England. Contributed to the game of football as a Player, Coach and Administrator, is a Player Life Member of SAWSA and holds the Australia Medal for services to the game.

Represented South Australia as a player and coach and was SAWSA Development Officer 1993 to 1998 and Executive Officer 1998 to 2007. Appointed as Technical Advisor for the Australian Schoolgirls tour of New Zealand 1998/99, Assistant Coach Australian Women’s Youth team tour to Iceland 1999 with games against Iceland, Germany and Sweden, also Joint Head Coach of the Australian Women’s Youth team tour to USA in 2000 with games against USA, China and Japan.

Won league and cup winners medals with Sturt-Marion in 1995/96/97/98 and with MetroStars in 2001, plus a cup winners medal in 2002.

 

J. (Jan) KIERNO

ROLL OF HONOUR
As a member for meritorious contribution

Migrated to Australia in 1982 from Lidzbark, Warminski, Poland.

Contributed to the game of football as a Player and Coach and was the Rothmans Medal winner in 1983.

Represented South Australia as a player and coach, won Coca Cola Cup winners medals with Polonia in 1983 and 1985, Federation Cup winners medal and Player of the Match award with E.D. Azzurri in 1986 and was also club Player of the Year with Polonia in 1983/84/85 and with E.D. Azzurri in 1987.

As a coach won the SA Championship with E.D. Azzurri in 1992 along with the Coca Cola Cup in 1990 and the West End Cup in 1991 and won the Coca Cola Cup with Polonia in 1985.

Member Referees Management Committee for over 15 years and the first referee in South Australia to be officially permitted to continue refereeing Premier League games after age 50

Won 3 NSL Championship medals and 2 NSL Cup winners medals also won State League Championship medals with W.T. Birkalla 1981 and Cumberland Utd in 1997, played 321 NSL and Cup games between 1983 and 1994 scoring 82 goals of which 297 games and 77 goals were for Adelaide City

Top goal scorer for Adelaide City (NSL) on 5 occasions, also top goal scorer Premier League 1995, Port Lion 1995 and Cumberland Utd 1997

Chairman SASF 1979 to 1981, Chairman 1st Division Management committee, SASF delegate to the Australian Soccer Federation, LOC Member FIFA World Youth Championships 1981 and State Team Manager 1967 to 1972 was also instrumental in bringing to South Australia in excess of 90 overseas players and their family members

Born in Derby, England, came to Australia in 1957 with the Royal Air Force, returned to UK in 1959 and migrated to Australia in March 1960. Contributed to the game of soccer as a player, coach, administrator, historian and author also a Member of the Australian Soccer Association Hall of Fame, holder of the SASF Meritorious Service Award and Life Member Cumberland Utd SC

Represented South Australia as a player, coach and manager, as a coach won the South Australian Championship and Federation Cup double (1978), Coach of the Year (1979) and was SA State Team Manager for10 years. Member and Chairman of numerous SASF and club committees, member FIFA Technical Committee (1981) and Team Liaison Officer World Youth Championships (1993) also Technical Operations Manager (Football) Olympic Games 2000 and was the inaugural Chairman of the SA Hall of Fame. Associated with soccer in South Australia for over 50 years

Wrote the book “History of Soccer in South Australia 1902 – 2002”

Represented Australia and South Australia as a player and was the first South Australian born player selected for Australia to tour overseas and was also captain of Birkalla Rovers SC and played in excess of 250 senior games for the club. Member of various club and SASF committees, member of Birkalla Rovers committee for over 63 years and President for 30 years

Member of various SASF committees, public address announcer at night soccer games for over 22 years and the first full time soccer writer with the Advertiser in 1977. Press information specialist for the 2000 Olympic Games (Football) and the first ever commentator from any Football code in Australia to cover a match live through television in 1961. Associated with soccer in South Australia for over 60 years

Represented Australia and South Australia as a player and referee, played for Port Adelaide, Portsmouth-Plympton and Birkalla Rovers SC was also appointed as an International referee by FIFA and refereed the 1979 Australian Cup Final. Member of the Referees Appointments committee, SASF Disciplinary committee and was appointed Referees Coach and Inspector has been associated with soccer in South Australia for over 50 years

Contributed to the game of soccer as a player, coach and administrator also a Player Life Member West Adelaide SC

Represented South Australia as a player and played 138 games in the NSL for West Adelaide SC was also the first captain of West Adelaide in the NSL and was Captain Coach in its Championship year 1978. Honours include Australian Press NSL Player of the Year, finalist in the South Australian Sports Star of the Year and Winner of The Advertiser Golden Boots Award in 1978

Contributed to the game of soccer as a player, coach and administrator also holder of the SASF Meritorious Service Award and Life Member Western Border Soccer Association, International SC, Apollo SC and Gambier Sharks SC

President and member of the South East Soccer Association and the WBSA for over 30 years and was SESA Player of the Year on 4 occasions. Helped create at least 5 different clubs in the South East Region and has been involved with soccer in South Australia for over 50 years
