Women's Gala Day May 19th, 2013
On the 19th May a wonderful day of Woman's Soccer was held at Morshead Park.
A curtain raiser of 4 teams of U11 girls kicked off the day on the Synthetic pitch while our U16's played on the grass pitch.
Six Woman's teams played in the Autumn sunshine. The coaches boxes were festooned with 40 pink balloons.
At the end of each game all senior players received a lovely home cooked, wrapped cupcake.
A big thank you to our helpers :
Kathy Payton for cooking ,decorating and wrapping 108 cup cakes.
Tyler Gilmer-Reeves for blowing up the balloons
Herman Bogers and John Gilmer for setting up pitches and being our "runners"
Total Girl Tournament
Total Girl Soccer tournament started when 150 local girls played in 2005. 300 girls from Ballarat helped make up the 800 girls that played in 2006. The tournaments’ continual growth reflects the renewed interest in girls soccer. With the statistics indicating that girls just stop playing sport at 13 the focus has been on creating a social as well as a physical competition for girls aged between 7 to 16 yrs. Weekends away, film nights, BBQ's, Begonia festival parade and shopping trips are just some of the things the girls are involved in off the field (not to mention coloured hairspray, face paint and lots of giggles).
In 2006 the competition was taken back to the clubs to ensure longevity and to continue to create growth through the use of existing networks. Now in 2009 the BDSA has increased girl's participation to new levels with under 11, under 13 and under 16 grades. The juniors play SSG while the 2 higher levels are in competitive fixtures. We have been involved in Country Regional Championships for a number of years and there is a pathway for senior girls with the newly renamed Ballarat Lady Devils teams.

2010 Total Girl Tournament
Australia's largest girls' soccer tournament will be held on the weekend of the 20th and 21st March, 2010, in Ballarat. The Total Girl Tournament is a seven-a-side round robin competition played over two days. More than 130 teams from clubs and schools all over Australia will be attending. The format allows players from the inexperienced right up to the best players in Australia to participate and enjoy the weekend. The Tournament has all age groups from under 10 through to under 16's. The age groups are graded into divisions so each team gets to play against teams of similar abilities. As well as the tournament itself, there are many activities that take place on-site. These include the popular Total Girl Market and visits from star players. Each player also receives a Total Girl showbag. Registrations can be completed online in October 2009 through the tournament website, www.totalgirlsoccer.com.
