More Strengthening of The World Game

All at Trafalgar Victory FC were delighted to hear the Hon. Minister for Sport and Recreation, Mr Hugh Delahunty, announce that the Victorian State Government would contribute in excess of $98,500 towards the construction of change rooms and a canteen facility upon the new Trafalgar soccer grounds.

The funding was made available via the “Strengthening The World Game” program and successfully applied for by the Baw Baw Shire Council.  Kerry Irwin (Manager Community Strengthening – Baw Baw Shire Council) and Mick Meyer (Community Development Coordinator–Gippsland Department of Planning Community Development) ensured the very best application was submitted.  Whilst, Maria Berry (FFV Government Relationship Manager) and Gary Blackwood (Member for Narracan) did their best to promote the project via the state government.

This outstanding outcome didn’t just come by chance.  Rather, this was a two year process of review, analysis and improvement.    In the end, it was a case of third time lucky and it was indeed the third application which eventually warranted the funding.

The TVFC committee were delighted with today’s announcement and eagerly await the construction of the new club facilities by the end of this year.  The new building will consist of a new improved canteen, a referee’s room, a first aid room and 4 player change rooms.  It will also provide a significant amount of undercover protection for spectators.

From a club’s perspective, the news couldn’t have come at a better time.  Many players, parents and supporters will be delighted with every aspect of the facilities design.  Warm food, team change rooms and spectator shelter will appeal to the majority of our members who have battled the elements for the majority of this season.

Trafalgar Victory FC wish to publicly acknowledge the partnership formed between our club and both the Victorian State Government and the Baw Baw Shire Council.
