Sligo Giant Warriors 80        Donegal Dragons 81

Sligo Giant Warriors hosted Donegal Dragons for their return match in the league after a thrilling game in Donegal before Christmas which Dragons won after going to overtime. This game would provide the same wonderful entertainment going down to the last seconds to separate the 2 teams. The Warriors opened with a lovely 3 pointer form Hinda Jocius to set the tone for a great shooting display from his side. But it was the Dragons who managed to wrestle control of the first quarter with Dillon Muldoon 7pts being the Donegal sides main threat in the first quarter while the impressive Vitalous Gresas 7pts was into his stride and hitting his notorious banks shots with ease to keep his side in touch. Dragons got in after the first winning 23-16 with Ryan Malley and Jason Duignan playing well and Duignan down for a 3 pointer on the score sheet? Is this possible has the flying Duignan now added 3 point shooting to his extended hang time? A 7 point quarter was added to as the away side won the 2nd by 4 points 20-16 with Grecas and Liubas prominent for the home side while Carty, Duignan, Malley and Muldoon were again the Dragons top men. The third was all about the Warriors as they crushed the Donegal Sides lead over turning a 14 point deficit to go ahead in the game for the first time since the first minute leading after the third by 9points. Both sides would have to call on their benches as the game wore on and the Dragons fought their way back into the game and again it was Muldoon who provided the baskets hitting 12 pts. in the last. The game would have a terrific finish as the foul trouble mounted for Warriors they lost top man Gresas and Juranis but up stood Milan Andric for a couple of lovely 3points to keep his side ahead. With just under 27 seconds left Dragons finally got ahead as old timer Kevin Sinclair hit a 3 pointer to go ahead with only 15 seconds to play Harius Kondautas scored a 2pointer to give his side a 1 point lead with around 8 seconds left the dragons attacked and a missed attempt by Sinclair was superbly rebounded by Muldoon and before returning to the floor stuck in brilliantly to put his side up by 1point and 1.8 left. The Dragons then recovered the ball to see out a great away win. Daire Quinn made his senior Debut for the Dragons doing very well while Duignan, Ryan Malley, Carty, Sweeney were excellent but it was Dylan Muldoon who was terrific in both attack and D and he gets the MVP. Vitalous Grecas deserves a mention scoring 24 for his side.
