Weekends Games Round Up

Ladies Result just in and Blaze storm ahead at the top of the table with a terrific away win in Kilcar.

Final Score  Kilcar B.C.  52 Blaze B.C. 55.

Very close game in which Blaze were lucky to come home with the win. Kilcar with home court advantage played great defence and had some great drives to the basket from Aisleen cunningham along with good outside shooting from Majella O Donnell in offensive. Kilcar lead right through until last quarter when Blaze managed to pull ahead. Aisleen cunningham was unlucky not to level the game and bring it to overtime with a 3 pointer that hit off the rim with only seconds left. Good Blaze performances from Bernie Cunningham in offence and Rachel Mulpeter in defence.

Notable scorers: Kilcar: Majella O Donnell (19) Aisleen Cunningham (15) Sinead Mc Brearty (6)
Blaze: Bernie Cunningham (15) Clodagh Brennan (13) Siobhan Mc Caffrey (8)

The Weekend saw some big games with league leaders in action in both the men and ladies. Ballyshannon Ladies started off the weekend in second but had to travel to Leaders Blaze and Blaze B.C. convincingly won 61-29. No details yet of scorers etc but Blaze starting off the year well. Donegal Town hosted Kilcar in the other ladies game and they won 65 -40. Kilcar and Donegal were pretty even up untill a great 3rd quarter for the home team. Aislinn Cunningham had a great game for Kilcar while young Kelly Harron and Michaela Breslin stood out for Donegal Town. LYIT Ravens are now clear Favourites in the Mens league after a huge win at home to an understrenght Ballyshannon B.C.  They now average over 100 points in their 3 games and go to Tuesdays game in Kilcar full of confidence. Not an easy place to go plus with the returning of Patrick Cricket Gallagher  to a young and energetic Kilcar team who will not go down easy at home in what is a huge game for both teams. Donegal Dragons won 75-58 in a hugely entertaining game. Kilcars newcomers Michael Brennan and Hugh Breslin had great games along with the very impressive Eoin Mc Hugh and the ageless Glen Mc Brearty. Big Zak Balagun, Jason Duignan and Dillon Mulldoon were excelent for the home team along the returning Gareth Britton who had a great comeback. Any team photos, game reports would be great from the clubs to help promote the league and the games.
