About Us

Worcester Wolves CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) set up in February 2011. The company is registered at Companies House (No. 07513193) and was created with the purpose of developing basketball through a number of initiatives within the local area and providing greater playing and learning opportunities for all.

The company's activities will provide benefit to all areas of the local community in the City of Worcester and the surrounding regions and in particular educational outlets and basketball clubs. These will include primary and secondary schools, academies, sixth form colleges and further education colleges as well as students at the University of Worcester. Anyone who attends any of these outlets within a twenty mile radius of Worcester will have basketball brought to them by the work of the Worcester Wolves CIC.

The existing basketball clubs in our area will also be direct beneficiaries as will wheelchair participants. The CIC encourages everybody to get involved in basketball regardless of ability, sex or age. We are looking to develop links and opportunities for those on low incomes and/or from an ethnic minority.

The Worcester Wolves CIC is run totally by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis and all members working with children will be CRB checked and where necessary qualified as per the sport's governing body's stringent regulations to which we strictly adhere.

In addition to the activities listed below the CIC (more commonly referred to as the Worcester Wolves Basketball Academy or Wolves Academy) will also focus on healthy lifestyle, taking responsibility, developing ambition and leading a responsible way of life among young people from 6 to 18 and beyond.

The activities on offer include:

  • Junior taster sessions for girls and boys on Saturday mornings
  • Competitive basketball in National Leagues
  • Girls and Ladies competitive basketball
  • Wheelchair basketball to include taster sessions on Saturday mornings and competitive matches
  • A Central Venue League (CVL) for those who wish to play matches locally but who are a standard below the level of the National Junior Leagues

The second year saw the membership increase to 150 players with a further 80 playing representing other local teams in the CVL. We also organised a number of friendly matches for the Worcester Wolves Wheelchair basketball team that train every Saturday morning at the University of Worcester.

Next year our aim is organise tournaments for the newly formed u11 and u13 teams as well as forming an all girls team to participate in local matches/tournaments.
