3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Saturday December 7th, 2013

Tonga National Basketball Association launches 3 on 3 tournament at Atele Indoor Stadium on Saturday December 7th, 2013. We had 11 teams register and each team had 4 to 5 players. Every team was required to have 1 female player. We had teams from the western and the eastern side of the Island registering to enter the tournament. Two teams from the American Peace Corp register for the tournament.more

Primaries School Tournament, Nov 30th, 2013.

The second primaries school tournament for 2013 was under way on Nov 30th, 2013. Three primaries school participated in this tournament they were Havelu, Atele sii, and Veitongo. This tournament was held at Atele Indoor Stadium on Saturday November 30th, 2013. Veitongo played Atele sii to see who was going to play Havelu for the championship game. Prize Giving At St. Andrew's High School, Nov 19th, 2013

In the girls division it was Havelu playing Saint Andrew's High School. This game started out with St. Andrew's having only 3 players due to transportation. With St. Andrew's Coach Ngalu employing a zone defense through out the whole game, this really helped the St. Andrew's team to be able to keep the game close, at the half Havelu was only up by 3 points. This will be the Tonga National Basketball Association second Primaries School Tournament for the year 2013. Prize Giving Pakilau Middle School.

The Tonga National Basketball Association Middle and High Schools Competition in 2013; saw Pakilau and Havelu boys playing for the champions in which Pakilau Middle Schoo won in overtime by the score of 20 to 19. Phil Starnes was born in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada and he now make his home in Alberta, canada. Phil Starnes has been involved with basketball since 1985, both as a player and as a coach. U.S. NAVY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TONGA BASKETBALL

The United State Navy in partnership with the Tongan National Basketball Association held a basketball workshop at Havelu Middle School, in which 10 of its officers of men and women run basketball drills. This was a sport day for all the primaries school in Tonga, different sports was being played today, and basketball was included in this fun day for students. We had girls and boys team from the Village of Veitongo vs the team from Atele sii Primary School. Each school had 2 boys and 2 girls team entering this tournament. U.S. NAVY WILL TEAM WITH TNBA FOR BASKETBALL CAREER DAY AND CLINIC

On Friday June 21st the Tonga National Basketball Association will team up with the United State Navy to conduct a Basketball career day, will start out with officers explaining what field that are available in the force and why they are in Tonga, than the Navy will present gifts of Basketball and rims for the (TNBA) to use, and the Navy will have 3 hours of Basketball Clinics with 3 different high schools. U.S. Navy Basketball and teaching, Havelu Middle School

The United State Navy arrived last week in the kingdom and they had requested that they would like to have a friendly game with a team from Tonga, and on Saturday June 15th in the Havelu Middle Schools the game was being played with about 35 from crew of the ships male and female. On the side line the crew was teaching our students about the game. This was a great experience for our students to be able watch and played with people whom invented the game. Basketball with Dr Peter from Adelie Australia.

Dr Peter who is from Adelie Australia is here in Tonga working at Vaiola Hospital has valaunter his time to teach our youth how to play basketball. On Friday the 7th of June we had a basketball clinics at Ha'ateiho Village with Atele Primary School and the boys from Saint Anfrew's High School.
Dr Peter has over 20 years of playing basketball his father played basketball and he has followed his fathers foot steps. We would like to say thank you Peter for your time.more

THE ST ANDREW'S HIGH SCHOOL HAD ITS PRIZE GIVING DAY AND BASKETBALL WAS PRESENT TO SHOW ITS SUPPORT FOR THE BASKETBALL TEAMS. THIS WAS A FUN DAY FOR THE STUDENTS AND ALL THE PARENTS. BASKETBAAL WAS THERE TO TAKE PHOTOS OF THE HANDING OUT OF  THE TROPHIES. THE GIRLS TEAM WAS IN SECOND PLACE AND THE BOYS CAME IN THIRD.

BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HAVELU Vs OCEAN OF LIGHT SCHOOL

THIS IS THE BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AND THE COACHES WANTED TO HAVE THREE GAME AND WHO EVER WINS TWO IS THE CHAMPION.THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WAS PLAYED AT HAVELU MIDDLE SCHOOL INSIDE COURT. THE FIRST GAME OCEAN OF LIGHT WON AND CONTINUE BEING UNDEFEATED. THE SECOND GAME HAVELU PLAYED REALLY WELL AND AT HALF TIME THE GAME WAS ALL TIED UP. THE SECOND HALF STARTED AND BOTH TEAM PLAYED GOOD FEFENCE BUT OCEAN OF LIGHT MISSED MORE SHOTS IN THIS GAME THAN HAVELU, BUT HAVELU NOT VERY GOOD ON REBOUNDING BUT STILL HAVELU CAME AWAY WITH A WIN TO EVEN UP AT 1 TO 1 TO SET UP A FINAL GAME...........

THIS GAME WAS BEING PLAYED AT THE  ATELE INDOOR STADIUM THANKS TO THE MINISTRY  OF SPORT FOR LETTING BASKETBALL USED THE STADIUM. WE HAD TO USED THE ATELE STADIUM DUE TO THE FACT THAT HAVELU INDOOR WAS BEING USED FOR A FUNERAL. THE GIRLS FROM SAINT ANDREWS TOOK THE FIRST GAME, THEY BEAT PAKILAU THE SCORE WAS 18 TO 12 AND THE SECOND GAME PAKIALU GIRLS BEAT SAINT ANDREW'S 16 TO 10....

SAINT ANDREW'S GIRLS Vs HAVELU MIDDLE SCHOOL

FIRST MEETING BETWEEN THESE TWO TEAM BOTH  LOOKING FORWARD TO AN EXCITING AND FUN DAY OF BASKETBALL. HAVELU WAS SHOWING ITS STAR PLAYER PEAU, SHE IS THE TALLEST PLAYER AND THE ONE THAT SCORED THE MOST FOR HAVELU AND THE ONE THAT REBOUNDED FOR THEM. THE SAINT ANDREW'S TEAM HAD A HARD TIME DEFENDING PEAU BECAUSE SHE SEEM TO SCORED EVERYTIME SHE TOUCHES THE BASKETBALL, SHE ALSO GET ALL THE REBOUND AND THE EASY PUT IN. ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE FOR SAINT ANDREWS WAS NOT ANY. AT THE HALF, HAVELU 12 AND SAINT ANDREWS 0. THE SECOND HALF STARTED AND IT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, LIKE WATCHING A VIDEO OF THE FIRST HALF. AT THE END OF THE GAME HAVELU WON THE SCORE WAS HAVELU 18 TO 4, THE 4 POINTS FROM SAINT ANDREWS CAME FROM ANNA TAUFA WHO IS THER POINT CUARD. VERY PROUD OF THE SAINT ANDREW'S GIRLS BECAUSE THEY NEVER GAVE UP  WHEN THE SCORE WAS 12 TO NIL THEY PLAYED HARD UNTIL THE FINAL WHISTLE.......

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THESE TWO TEAM PLAYED EACH OTHER. THE GAME STARTED OUT WITH MANY FOUL AND VIOLATION COMMITTED BY BOTH TEAM. THIS WAS TO BE EXPECTED BECAUSE IT IS THE FIRST GAME THEY ARE PLAYING. IT WAS A VERY LOW SCOREING GAME, AT HALF TIME HAVELU WAS LEADING 10 TO 6, WHEN THEY CAME BACK IN THE SECOND HALF HAVELU SCORED ANOTHER 10 POINTS, SAINT ANDREWS ONLY SCORED 4 MORE POINTS. HAVELU WON 20 TO SAINT ANDREW'S 10. SAINT ANDREW'S SHOTS MORE BASKET THN HAVELU IT JUST DID NOT GO IN.....
