PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES AND EXPERIENCE TO "COME PLAY" BASKETBALL
We would like to send a HUGE thank you to all the effort put towards our Domestic Tournament Round by our committee, it was a long day for those involved with the CBL match being played later that night. The committee would like to thank all the players, parents and the referees for the day, from a committee point of view you all made our day much easier by making sure games ran as close to on time as possible.
REMEMBER WE ARE ALL BACK TO NORMAL NEXT WEEK!
LEARN TO SCORE
A big part of Wallan Basketball, just like any junior sporting club is the support of the parents.
As I'm sure every parent loves to sit back and watch their child play whatever sport it is whether it be football, cricket or BASKETBALL. However every club requires parents to be as actively involved as possible, at Wallan Basketball we don't expect people to always be available every week. Even our committee members have a week off every now and then for whatever the reason.
A major problem we currently have is that of parents to score during the domestic games, there are two components to scoring.
- the Scoreboard and;
- the Score sheet
Whether our problem is caused by people being afraid to do it for a fear of making a mistake or not, we cannot say. However we feel that with the help of a volunteer parent (Helen Mahoney) and the support of the committee during games we can help people learn to score which makes the games just that little be easier to run!
Helen has had children playing at Wallan Basketball for a few years now and has always been willing to help where possible (as a lot of parents do). Helen has now offered to help the club by running a couple of 'LEARN TO SCORE' sessions for parents wishing to learn. We urge as many parents as possible to attend these session so that they can help out during their child's game.
In our current domestic structure we would only require parent's to do 2-3 games during a season! Instead of 1 or 2 parents scoring a high percentage of the season.
WE APPRECIATE ALL AND ANY HELP WE GET FROM OUR MEMBERS!!!
