Senior Domestic Rules

Broadmeadows Basketball Association use FIBA Rules as the basis for all games. Broadmeadows Basketball Association also reserves the right to invoke other rules to suit its own unique conditions.

These Senior Domestic Rules must be read in conjunction with the BBA By Laws.

Player Uniform Regulations

Players of each team must be clad in uniformly base coloured and correctly numbered singlets/tops and uniformly base coloured shorts.

A player not in correct uniform shall be penalised ten (10) points as from the commencement of round four (4) of competition.

For guidance on shorts, black and navy are acceptable as black. Blue is blue. Allowances are to be made for fading and dye ageing of shorts. Any player wearing bike shorts UNDER THE CORRECT COLOURED SHORTS will not attract a uniform penalty. Track suit pants do not comply with this regulation and will attract the uniform penalty. Unless there is exemption in writing from Broadmeadows Basketball Association.

ANY PERSON WHO HAS POCKETS IN THEIR SHORTS IS NOT TO PLAY.

Broadmeadows Basketball Association Representative singlet's are NOT to be worn in domestic competition.

Taped, pencilled, texta coloured and unnumbered tops are not acceptable and are subject to penalty.

Up to and including round three (3), players with incorrect uniform can wear alternate tops or bibs. These alternate tops or bibs must be correctly numbered, no colour clash with the other team and acceptable to the referee. As from round four (4) of each season, NO PLAYER IS ALLOWED TO TAKE THE COURT WITH AN INCORRECT TOP.

As from round four (4) of each season, a player with an incorrect top can play if he/she and ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM WEAR ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATE TOPS OR BIBS. Bibs are available from the Broadmeadows Stadium Doorkeeper and the Stadium Doorkeeper at outer venues.

Under uniform regulations, the only way a team can be penalised ten (10) points - is for incorrectly base coloured shorts.

Penalty points may be awarded at any time before the referee completes the scoresheet at the end of the game..

It is the responsibility of the adult teams wearing uniforms whose colours clash to make appropriate arrangements to avoid this situation prior to the commencement of the game.

Teams are aware they should arrange for alternate tops as necessary. If arrangements for alternate singlets/tops or bibs go past the advertised game commencement time, THE CLOCK IS TO RUN.

Penalty - One (1) point per minute or part thereof, to a maximum of ten (10) points.

The clock is started at the ADVERTISED STARTING TIME of the game. Teams not ready to play shall be penalised one (1) point per minute or part thereof, to a maximum of ten (10) points, which is awarded to the opposition. A walk over is declared, if after ten (10) minutes, a team does not have the required four (4) players READY to start the match. Score recorded for a walkover is ten (10) points to nil.
