PORT MORESBY, July 5 – The Pacific Games Council (PGC) says it intends to push the Pacific Games to another level.
President Vidhya Lakhan (FIJ) said at a recent press conference that the inclusion of Australia and New Zealand as participants in the Pacific Games could be a step towards ensuring that participation spans Oceania.

PORT MORESBY, July 5 – Charlotte Robin bagged the first gold medal of the 2015 Pacific Games when she won the women’s triathlon on Sunday, and New Caledonia took all three triathlon events on Sunday in Port Moresby.
Robin crossed the finish line in 1h 6m 30s and 19 seconds ahead of 17-year-old Tahitian, Salome de Barthez de Marmorieres, with Robin’s country
Papua New Guinea showcased an excellent opening ceremony to open the XV Pacific Games. HRH Prince Andrew officially opened the games to a thunderous applause and international audience via the LIVE television broadcast.

Ministers, Advisors and Sports Administrators of 19 out of the 22 Pacific Island nations and territories, together with the Pacific Games Council met in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on 3 July 2015 under the theme “Governments and Sport – Working Together for the Pacific Islands People”.
The 15th Pacific Games have arrived in Port Moresby. The venues are completed and the athletes are starting their journey to the host city and are set for the Opening Ceremony and two weeks of sporting competition.
The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands was confirmed by the Pacific Games Council as the host of the 11th Pacific Mini Games in 2021.
Vanuatu's preparations for hosting the 10th Pacific Mini Games entered a new phase with their receipt of the PGC Flag at the Closing Ceremony of the 9th Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna.
The Pacific Games Council has awarded the hosting rights for the 16th Pacific Games in 2019 to Tonga. By a vote of 16 to 6, the 22 Pacific Games Associations, who constitute the membership of the Pacific Games Council, voted in favour of Tonga over Tahiti Nui at the annual General Assembly held on Wallis Island from 18-19 October.
