Athletics Wrap

The Athletics Competition in Palau at the 2005 South Pacific Mini Games was a solid competitive affair, run on the newly renovated track in Koror. Fifteen Countries were in attendance for the Games and even though the numbers were down on previous Games, there was some excellent competition.more

Close Call for Fiji and PNG

Fiji and PNG fought out a fascinating duel in the Athletics Competition with PNG only just being edged out by a rampaging Fiji.

Mae Koime produced 3 individual gold and a relay gold and silver to lead the individual performances of the Games.

Fiji Reign Supreme on Night 4 of Athletics

Fiji took out four gold medals in the track and field tonight, collecting ten of the total 28 medals on offer. Samoa also had a night to write home about, winning three gold medals.

The mens 100m final lived up to its blue ribbon status tonight with a class field supplying a class race.

The long standing Vanuatu National Record held by Gerry Jeremiah since 1986 was beaten by .02 of a second by Moses Kamut.more

Athletics Venue

The Athletics venue is conveniently situated by the Games Village and in walking distance from most of the sports venues. It is a 6-lane, all-weather rubber track. It is being repaired for the Games and currently on track to be completed by April 2005.more
