New FSMNOC sport education development officer starts

Cassidy Shoniber (pictured) is the new employee at the FSMNOC office in Pohnpei.  Shoniber, aged 31, started on 20 February 2012 and will be responsible for the implementation of the FSM sport education program.  FSMSEP uses the OSEP coaching and administration training programs to kick start its sport accreditation system for various sports.  The aim of the program is to build the capacity of the people of Micronesia as it prepares for the 2014 Micronesian Games.

Shoniber is a graduate of University of Hawaii, Hilo and is currently the President of the Pohnpei Basketball Association.  He has spent most of his life playing sport where recently he was responsible for using sport to keep youths out of substance abuse.

As part of his orientation, he accommpanied the OSEP Coordinator to Yap to be part of the community administrator and coaching training.  It was also an opportunity to meet with Yap sport partners - Paul Lane, Larry Uwelur and Peter Garangman.

Comment Guidelines: The SportingPulse Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
