Tafea FC bows out of OFC Club Championship

The Vanuatu champions were leading 1 - 0 at half time through a goal by Imbert Nake 20 minutes into the game.

The Boys from the South came back scoring two quick goals after the spell through Etienne Mermer and Imbert Nake again.
But Manawatu came back fighting utilising the skills of their three Solomon Islands imports. And they got their first goal through Alek Maemae. Then Commonis Menapi scored the second goal. Then it was the third Melanesian brother that closed the doors to their Vanuatu neighbors with the third goal for Manawatu.

Final score Tafea: 3 vs YoungHeart Manawatu 3.

This leaves Manawatu with 5 points (one win and two draws) and Tafea on 4 points (one win, one draw and one loss).
The Fiji Nokia Eagles are sure to make the second team to the semis even if they lose their final group match against AS Magenta later today.

The Fijians have scored 6 goals in two games and conceited 2, while Tafea scored a total of 4 goals and conceited 7 goals.
This has left them with no chance at all but to make an early exit.
Tafea FC have always been one of the top teams in the OFC Club Championships, and today marks their first early exit from the VT100 million tournament.
At least they went down fighting, and should be congratulated for their efforts.
