Pascoe Vale comes from goal down to defeat Oakleigh

A come from behind 1-2 win over Oakleigh Cannons has seen Pascoe Vale move up to fifth place on the NPL Victoria ladder.

Dusan Bosnjak gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot, before Tomislav Milardovic scored his second goal in two weeks to level the scores. Youngster Matthew Lazarides scored the winner in the second half for the visitors.

A cagey opening saw neither side creating many opportunities, and it was no surprise the first goal came from the penalty spot.

Referee Paschalis Natis awarded the Cannons a 31st minute penalty after Mirjan Pavlovic's goalbound header struck an outstretched arm of Davey Van't Schip.

Bosnjak stepped up and made no mistake from the penalty spot, sending Alex Pavlidis the wrong way in the Pascoe Vale goal.

In a frantic 60 second spell the visitors had the ball in the net twice.  Firstly, referee Natis ruled out Van't Schip's first time volley after deciding Luca Santilli had fouled Aron Wilford in the build up.

But just seconds later the visitors were to score legitimately, when Milardovic stepped up to the penalty spot after Joseph Yousef was fouled in the area.  Milardovic hit his strike straight at Honos but the Paco defender was first to react to the rebound and sent the ball into the back of the net.

The second period began not too different to the first, with again both teams cagey and happy not to concede.

But it was to be Pascoe Vale who broke the deadlock through Lazarides.  The left footer has been in outstanding form since his getting his opportunity this season, and again repaid the faith shown in him by Ferrante by cooly slotting the ball past Honos after he was played in by a delightful ball by Van't Schip.

Paco began to sat back and absorb the Oakleigh pressure, resorting to playing on the counter to open up the Cannons as they pushed forward.

The Cannons' late pressure almost paid off when a late Wilford header was cleared off the goal line, but it wasn't to be for the home side as Pascoe Vale ran out deserved 2-1 winners.
