Hume City continued its recent momentum beating Dandenong Thunder 3-1 at ABD Stadium on a cold Friday night. 

New Hume recruit Daniel Chabaani opened the scoring, not long after he was joined on the score sheet by teammate Paul Harvey. 

Dandenong pegged Hume back with a goal from youngster Yusuf Ahmed, but Marcus Schroen put the game beyond the visitors with a second half goal.

The game began open with both sides attacking from either ends of the pitch. 

Dandenong’s James Goulopoulus looked to be on goal, but a well-timed defensive interception from fullback Chabaani stopped the attack from progressing. 

At the other end of the pitch, Chabaani was making his presence felt as a attacking fullback. 

A lofted ball from Jai Ingham opened up the space for Chabaani, particularly after a Dandenong defender lost his footing when tracking the run. 

The Hume man was in room to shoot and without hesitation broke his duck for the club. 

Hume’s effectiveness early put Dandenong on notice, but shot-stopper Zaim Zeneli was ready to the task, coming up with a tidy reaction save to deny Harvey from close range. 

Despite, Dandenong’s intervention Hume’s strength in the final third showed. 

Club captain Nick Hegarty swung in a pinpoint cross into the path of former Ballarat Red Devil Harvey, who cleverly placed his header into the goal. 

Within a few minutes Dandenong hit back.

A foray into the Hume penalty area lead to a scramble with a sea of bodies searching for possession of the ball. 

It fell into the path of youngster Ahmed who picked his spot and found the back of the net with ease.

Ahmed continued to trouble Hume’s defensive rearguard. 

The Dandenong attacker surged forward unleashing a drive but goalkeeper Chris Oldfield was equal to it. 

The match slowly fizzled out into a game of attrition with little action on show. 

But Hume sprung back to life when Schroen linked up with Shaun Timmins to create a third goal. 

The pacy fullback cut back a cross to the near post that Schroen gently guided in off the post superbly.  

Late in proceedings, Harvey clashed with Dandenong goalkeeper Zeneli with his feet. The striker was then sent off after the challenge.
