PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Victoria kicks off today, Thursday February 18, 2016 with matches stretching across five days of football action.

Victoria will be the first PS4 NPL competition to kick off in Australia, with the match between Oakleigh Cannons and Port Melbourne Sharks at Jack Edwards Reserve at 8:30pm.

Victoria will feature in exciting new PS4 NPL initiatives this season including a revamped national finals series and the launch of the PS4 Player Pathway Award.

The PS4 Player Pathway Award will give 24 aspiring footballers aged 16-20 around Australia a shot at a professional career by unearthing PS4 NPL talent and elevating the Hyundai A-League stars of tomorrow.

“The PS4 NPL is widely recognised as the engine room for the future of professional league football in Australia," Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia Michael Ephraim said.

"By introducing the PS4 Player Pathway Award we are offering another opportunity for players who have missed selection through traditional routes to follow their dreams into the A-League."

Representatives from the 2015 premier and champion teams of PS4 NPL Victoria and PS4 NPL 2 Victoria joined their counterparts from Hyundai A-League affiliated PS4 NPL clubs Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City at Lakeside Stadium to launch the new Victorian season.
