Westfield FFA Cup to visit Regional SA

Football Federation SA (FFSA) is pleased to announce that the Westfield FFA Cup will feature as part of the NSR Australia Regional Round this coming weekend in Mount Gambier.

Mount Gambier residents and football enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to see and be photographed with the Westfield FFA Cup on both Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March at local Western Border Soccer Association (WBSA) clubs.

A clear synergy with the coming weekend’s NSR Australia Regional Round and the Westfield FFA Cup competition is evident with the teams involved in the weekend’s event.

Saturday, both International Soccer club and Apollo Soccer club will face off in a Charity Cup curtain raiser game supporting beyondblue. The two sides are set to play in the qualifying competition of the Westfield FFA Cup in South Australia later in the year when International Soccer Club visit MetroStars SC and Apollo Soccer Club host Cumberland United.

MetroStars SC and Adelaide City FC who play their Round 6 fixture in Mount Gambier this weekend are also closely linked to the Westfield FFA Cup.

MetroStars gained automatic entry in to the Round of 32 Westfield FFA Cup competition after claiming the 2014 PlayStation4 National Premier League Championship while Adelaide City who will again compete in the qualifying competition in 2015, found themselves on the national stage in the inaugural year of the tournament after defeating Hyundai A-League giants Western Sydney Wanderers and continuing on to the Quarter Finals.

Football Federation SA Chief Executive Officer Michael Carter said that the NSR Australia Regional Round is the perfect opportunity to bring the prestigious trophy to regional South Australia.

“The Westfield FFA Cup has captured the imagination of clubs and fans across the country. Mt Gambier will be represented by International and the Apollo Soccer Club in the 2015 competition along with affiliated clubs throughout South Australia, all having the opportunity to participate in the National Cup competition.

“The FFSA is delighted to offer parents and children attending the game on Saturday with the unique opportunity to have their photos taken with the Westfield FFA Cup.”
