Preview:

The 2015 season of the South Australia PlayStation4 National Premier League (NPL) kicks off on Sunday for Campbelltown City with a clash against West Adelaide at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre.

Campbelltown finished seventh last season, narrowly missing out on the finals and captain Vas Parhas believes that his team can go one better this time around.

“The finals are realistic chance. We’ve got strength in depth and there is every possibility that we can make it,” he said.

Anticipation has been building in the team in the days and weeks leading up to the match against West Adelaide on Sunday.

“The feeling in the team is great; we had an excellent pre-season,” Parhas said.

“The team is fit and ready to go.”

Parhas expects a difficult encounter against West Adelaide – second place finish in the regular season last year -, but believes his team up to the challenge.

“They (West Adelaide) are a good ball playing side with some good technical players,” he said.

“They run the ball well, but we have experienced players that can match it with them.

“We’ll see how we go.”

Across town, West Adelaide captain Elias Vlassis has similar thoughts on the match ahead.

“Campbelltown are an experienced team with a lot of good players, so we expect a strong, hard game,” he said.

In preparation for the match and the season ahead, West Adelaide has made the most out of the break to get into peak condition.

“We just worked away on things, just trying to get fit and work on our plays,” Vlassis said

“We’ve worked hard over the break and we’ve prepared mentally and physically, so we look forward to the start of the season.”

The expectations for the season are quite simple: To play good football.

“We are just looking to play good football and to get the results,”Vlassis said.
