PS4 NPL: Olympic Search for Championship Point

PLAYSTATION 4 NATIONAL PREMIER LEAGUES: CANBERRA
CATCH-UP ROUND

And so it all comes down to this. The destiny of the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues Canberra championship will be decided on the final day of the season as Canberra Olympic look for the point they need to be crowd champions. Standing in their way will be the FFA Centre of Excellence with the 3pm Saturday afternoon kick-off at the Australian Institute of Sport likely to attract a decent crowd.

Waiting in the wings and hoping for a favour from the FFA COE will be Tigers FC. Chastened after their surprise 0-1 home loss to Tuggeranong United last weekend, the Tigers can only hope that the FFA COE finish the season on a high and claim a win that would enable the Tigers to remain top of the pile and receive the prize.

With a place in the PS4 NPL Finals Series, and a match away to the champion club of Football Queensland awaiting the League victor, the stakes are huge. For Olympic, preparing for Wednesday evening’s Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 clash with Redlands United, it’s promising to be a huge week and Frank Cachia will need his team to be focused on the task at hand if they are to succeed.

The nettle for third place will also be decided on the weekend with Belconnen United, currently in that position, favourites to stay there when they complete their season’s matches with a home fixture against Woden-Weston FC at McKellar Park on Saturday evening. Over at Deakin Stadium, Canberra FC, who will play the Blue Devils in the Elimination Semi-Final end their regular season campaign against Gungahlin United.

The final match of the season will see Tigers FC conquerors Tuggeranong United welcoming Monaro Panthers to Kambah 2. A Tuggeranong win could see them end the season as high as fifth, depending on other results and the outcome of their unplayed fixture against the FFA COE.
