A blockbuster re-match of last season’s Capital League Grand Final between Queanbeyan City and Narrabundah is the highlight of the sixteen-team draw for the Federation Cup which will kick off in April. The two Capital League giants will be battling to join the National Premier League big guns in Round 2 in one of two all CL ties. The other pits ANU FC against O’Connor Knights. White Eagles, who pushed Canberra Olympic all the way in Round 3 last season, eventually losing on penalties, kick off their cup campaign against State League 5 Gungahlin United. Gungahlin United State League 7, the lowest ranked State League team to enter the competition, will face Belconnen United from the Capital League whilst the Blue Devils Capital League Reserves face ANU FC from State League 4. Weston-Molonglo FC, who entered four teams, see their Capital League side face a potentially tricky clash against the youngsters from the Senior NTC while at the other end of the scale the Weston-Molonglo FC Masters take on their stable-mates from State League 5/6. The final match of the first round sees Weston-Molonglo FC (CLR) play State League 3 team Goulburn Strikers.
