PS4 NPL: Tuggeranong announce new coach for 2016

Tuggeranong United has snared the services of Woden Weston coach, Miro Trninic for 2016, on a two-year deal. Winless and languishing at the bottom of the NPL ACT ladder, the change was desperately needed at Tuggies to avoid the club “bleeding players”.

Current coach, Steve Forshaw will remain until the end of this season, as will Trninic at Woden Weston. After a successful 2014, that saw Tuggeranong press for the finals as well as qualifying for a final 16 berth in the FFA Cup, this season has been in stark contrast with Tuggies still chasing their first victory after 14 games.

In an interview with the Canberra Times, United president Jon Thiele said Forshaw would leave a "great legacy" after improving the club's junior development.

"We didn't think he was going to be in a position to retain the core of our player group, that's up-and-coming players, but also attract new players to the club and we feel that Miro can be that fundamental difference," he said.

"Otherwise we bleed players from this club and we'll just continue to assist other clubs in developing their talented playing crop."

Trninic turned down Tuggeranong’s original offer of a three-year deal.

"There's a big gap between the top six teams fighting got top four spots and the bottom three teams are far behind ... and something needs to be done to close this gap”, Trninic said.

"It's going to take us one or two years. You can't go from zero points and close this gap in one year."

Chairman of Woden Weston, David Hakaraia said their search is on for a new coach and they plan to boost their efforts at the completion of the current season.
