NPL Milestone for Misko Naumoski

22,500 minutes of NPL football, and that’s not counting extra time.

Gungahlin United Football Club’s Misko Naumoski has played an incredible 250 NPL matches.

“He’s an unbelievable player, to do it in an amateur world,” Gungahlin United Coach Chris Caggiano said.

“Everything he does off the pitch as well, not just in terms of preparation for training but the way he prepares himself to be able to play 250 games is phenomenal.

“It’s a fantastic achievement.”

Over the years, Naumoski has played with Queanbeyan City, Canberra City, Belconnen United, Cooma Tigers, Canberra FC and in 2017, found a home with Gungahlin.

Caggiano praising the way the senior player has risen to the occasion, when taking on more of a leadership role in 2021.

“He has a massive impact on the playing group, we obviously lost Jack Green, our captain earlier in the season, and Misko and a few of the other boys have really stepped up,”

“We have a younger squad so having someone like Misko who prepares very well and can show the other boys what you need to do to be a consistent performer in the NPL is a great thing.”

Misko was presented with a framed jersey, to celebrate the achievement.

“We really wanted to recognise him in the best way possible and the whole first grade bought into it,” Caggiano said.

“We would have liked the win against Belconnen to celebrate a bit more but it was great to get everyone together and celebrate the achievement.

“We had a lot of opportunities to win the game, we worked specifically during the week on where we thought we could have some success and I think all but the finish was there. It was an entertaining game watching it back again, both teams were looking to attack which was great for local football.”
