New signing Alex Oloriegbe helped Tuggeranong United to a 3-1 win over Gungahlin at Kambah on Sunday afternoon.

The game took time to get going with the visitors initially controlling the possession and the tempo of the game, while Tuggies concentrated on keeping it tight at the back and counter attacking when the opportunity arose.

Gungahlin’s first true opportunity of the game came in the 8th minute when Jason O’Dwyer collected the ball in the box and instantly forced Tuggies keeper Tom Barton into an early save.

The home side began to slowly settle in the game, and a Daniel Roberts free kick in the 19th minute took a wicked deflection and went narrowly wide of the goal.

In the 21st minute Misko Naumoski was in the right place at the right time and was able to tap home the opener for Gungahlin to put them in the lead.

It looked like Gungahlin were set to score another as they looked in control, however the pace of Tuggeranong's new recruit Oloriegbe shone through as he broke away to assist Andrew Slavich’s strike across the keeper in the 35th minute.

Six minutes later Oloriegbe added to the highlights in his debut with a goal, finding space at the left post and tucking away a low cross into the bottom corner to give his side the lead ahead of the break.

If anyone just watched the second half and did not know the score, they would think that Tuggies were the team chasing the game as they continued at a frenetic pace.

Gungahlin had their chances, however they just seemed one step behind their opponents in the second half.

The home side did not take their foot off the pedal as they continued to search for opportunities to extend their lead.

The determination paid off on the cusp of fulltime as Oloriegbe once again broke away from his markers, knicked the ball off to Riley Angelosante to beat his onrushing defender, and Angelosante made no mistake with a tidy finish to seal the match.

When league action returns after next week’s break Tuggeranong travel to Griffith to challenge Riverina Rhinos while Gungahlin look to bounce back against Monaro at home.
