Sunday, July 20, 2014 marks the spectacle that is the 8th Microgames Opening Ceremony, where observers gathered to uplift and show moral support for their athletes.
Great excitement and high spirits arose from the midst of the large assembly as spectators came together and athletes marched in at the Pohnpei Track and Field Arena.
A few from among the enthusiastic crowd were given an opportunity to be interviewed regarding how they felt about today's event.
Upward Bound (UB) Director Diaz Joseph and his students were generous enough to sacrfice their time to share their opinions with us.
"I'm beyond thrilled that I even got the chance to witness something as big as this," said UB Pre-Senior Shania Eldridge.
"I hope this promotes peace among the participating jurisdictions," added Pre-Junior Jerome Silbanuz.
Outside the Upward Bound group, we also got a chance to hear a statement from Pohnpei's female Track and Field Athlete, Demi Renae Edgar.
"I really look forward to making a lot of new friends. And I hope we use this event as means of providing unity," she said.
Overall, everyone is incredibly excited and certain that Microgames will leave positive memories on Pohnpei.
