Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) are pleased to announce the launch of a new individual honour in the Playstation 4 Victory League, with the inaugural Walter Pless Media Award up for grabs for the first time this year.

FFT will have a new award voted on by media, named in honour of the amazing contribution to football in Tasmania by football writer, Walter Pless. Pless said he was humbled to have an award named after him.

"I am very honoured but I am also shocked, I think more important than the name is that is a media award, several members of the media will be voting on it," said Pless.

"It adds a different perspective to the best player award, I remember years ago there was three of us , one writing at the Mercury, Examiner and the Advocate and we used to chip into a hat at the end of the season and pick our own media player of the year so I guess it is a bit like that except now you have more media, electronic media, print media and at least half a dozen guys voting," said Pless.

The award will go to the best player in the PS4 Victory League as voted on by media, the voting will involve the input of both new media and traditional media in a tribute to the different work Pless has done over many years in dedication to the game. 

FFT’s reporters will award 3, 2 and 1 to the the top three players for every game that is played, and those regular votes will be weighed up against the votes of mainstream media, who will be invited to give their top ten players on performance at season’s end.

The regular votes will be displayed on sliceofcheese.net throughout the season.
