Team of the Week Round 15

GK- Mark Grace, Kingborough Lions

Restored to the Lions goal, Grace put in a fine performance for the Lions, making some key stops including a pair of sublime saves that rank among the best made by any keeper this year. Without Grace in goal it would have been a much closer game.

RCB- Matthew Lewis, South Hobart

Donning the captain’s arm band Lewis led from the front and defended stoutly against the Warriors all afternoon. He read the game intelligently and was the calm figure in defence his side needed to steady the ship after conceding early.

CB- Joe Zupo, Devonport Strikers

Another strong performance from the big Canadian who also managed to get on the score sheet with a looping header. Clarence couldn’t find a way through the Yellow Wall whenever they moved forward, thanks in no small part to the ever reliable presence of Zupo.

LCB- Joel Schuth, Kingborough Lions

The Lions full back put in a dynamic performance, getting forward and providing a dangerous outlet and proceeding to score one of the goals of the season with a scintillating strike from range that left Smith with no chance.

RM- Jacob Brennan, South Hobart

The youngster took full advantage of a starting berth with a brilliant display on the wing. His willingness to run at and beat the Warriors defence saw him causing all manner of headaches and saw him score two goals with instinctive strikes in the box.

CM- Loic Feral, South Hobart

The move to midfield has worked perfectly to reignite the Frenchmen as he put in another great display in midfield for South Hobart against the Warriors. He excelled at winning the ball back, dropping deep to receive the ball and helped curtail the dangerous Hoy’s influence.

CM- Joel Stone, Devonport Strikers

Stone was back to his best against Clarence, dazzling with his quick feet to set up multiple chances, including a long range pass to Mann for his second before getting on the score sheet himself with a well timed run and tidy finish into the corner of the net.

LM- Pat Lanau-Atkinson, Northern Rangers

A brace for Lanau-Atkinson who cut a dangerous figure up front all match long. He provided a constant outlet for his teammates and was at the heart of all their best attacking moments.

RF- Dwayne Walsh, Hobart JEEP Zebras

Well and truly back in form, Walsh did well to get on the end of Wright’s long ball, rounding the keeper and scoring for his first goal before curling in a second from a free kick shortly after. His powerful runs overwhelmed the Rangers defence in a best afield display.

ST- Shane Cartwright, Kingborough Lions

Cartwright continues to revel in his role as a striker. He put in another towering display, winning a penalty and scoring another as well as providing a great physical target to draw the defenders out of position and win the ball for his side.

LF- Brayden Mann, Devonport Strikers

The Strikers captain put in another dazzling display with two more goals to take his season tally to 21. He also created a number of chances for his teammates with his dribbling ability just tearing Clarence apart at the back.
