First awarded in 1989, the Fothergill-Round Medal is awarded to the most promising young talent in the VFL competition who is believed to have the most potential to reach the AFL.
This medal is awarded in honour of Des Fothergill (Williamstown) and Barry Round (Williamstown) who are the only players to win both the J.J. Liston Trophy and the Brownlow Medal.
