LYVNA 17-1 Premiers!!!
A HUGE congratulations to Clare Grimes and our LYVNA 17U Team 1 on winning the 17U Premier Section 1 Grand Final.
In a highly skilled game, LYVNA 17-1 managed to hold off a very strong and physical Boroondara to win by 4, 41-37.
LYVNA 17-1 were on top of the ladder for the entire year only losing on game (to Boroondara) so the pressure was on to make the most of a fantastic season.
With three players missing, LYVNA entered the contest with only 8 players (one just returning from a long term injury).
The contest was tight with LYVNA holding a slender lead for most of the game but were never able to extend it.
First quarter, scores were even. Second LYVNA held a 3 goal lead. Third LYVNA had moved out to a 4 goal lead. In the last quarter, Boroondara pushed hard to reduce the deficite to one goal but LYVNA 17-1 finished strongly to win by 4.
It was a great game by a great team and coach and we all should be very proud of them.
A big thank-you to all the LYVNA people who came down to support, it was great to see a huge crowd watching.
This age group (97-99 born) have now won 6 Grand Finals in 5 years. 13-2 (2010), 13-1 and 15-3 (2011), 15-1 (2012), 15-1 (2013) and now 17-1 (2014).
