Pre Season Session

Welcome to LYNVA Rep.

On Monday, 15 December the coaches are running a pre-season preparation session at the Mooroobark Courts. 11U and 13U players are required to attend between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, and the 15U, 17U and 21U players between 7:00pm and 8:30pm.

This session will include:

  • An explanation of the pre-season training program and demonstration of the exercises
  • A skills session
  • Pre-testing of fitness

             - 20m multi stage shuttle run (Beep Test): 11U, 13U, 15U, 17U & 21U
             - Vertical Jump Test: 11U, 13U, 15U, 17U & 21U
             - 505 Agility Test and the Illinois Agility Test: 15U, 17U & 21U
             - Push-up Test: 15U, 17U & 21U

The purpose of running fitness testing is to provide players with a target for improvement. We are planning to run fitness tests at regular intervals, to provide players with the motivation to improve or maintain their fitness levels.

The pre-test will only be used to demonstrate individual improvement, not for player comparisons, and will not determine team placements.

Players will need to wear runners with good grip and the LYVNA training uniform or black shorts and a white T-shirt. Every player will also need to bring:

  • A towel/yoga mat
  • A water bottle
  • And if applicable, medications e.g. Ventolin

It is recommended that on the day of the pre-tests players:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise on the day of your tests.
  • Hydrate (drink fluid) the day prior and the day of the test.
  • Bring appropriate fluids to maintain hydration throughout the testing day.
  • Avoid eating a heavy meal in the two hours prior to the scheduled start of the tests, however it is strongly advised that you eat a suitable light meal/snack one to two hours prior to the session.

If you have any medical issues or injuries that will limit your participation in the session, please email Sara Iedema:  tsiedema@iinet.net.au, before Saturday, 13 December.
