Bulldogs OLD

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs SG Ball team has won its first match of the season defeating Western Sydney Rugby League Academy 14-12 in round 3 action at St Marys Leagues Club Stadium.

The Bulldogs had to earn victory the hard way coming from 10-0 down at half-time to claim the points.

In the opening two rounds the Bulldogs have been very competitive in the first half, but fell away in the second. Against Western Sydney they were dreadful in the opening 35 minutes where nothing went right for them.

Half time was the best result for the Bulldogs and they came out a much improved side in the second half although they struggled to put Western Sydney away.

The Bulldogs scored two tries to level up the scores at 10-all.

Western Sydney kicked a penalty goal to move two points clear, however, a late try by the Bulldogs was enough to secure them the all important two points and a confidence building victory.

Best for the Bulldogs were prop Mitchell Mamary, lock Addison Demetriou and fullback Kaupulu Poleo.

The Bulldogs next match is against the Central Coast at Belmore Sports Ground kicking off at 1.30pm with the opening round of the NSW Cup to follow at 3.00pm with the Bulldogs taking on Mounties, who are the Raiders affiliate side this year. The opening match of the day at Belmore will be the Harold Matthews clash against Central Coast starting at 12.00pm.
