68th Annual NSWRL Origin All Schools - Day One Wrap
Easily the biggest day of the Carnival, Monday saw around 100 primary school sides and more than 2000 children represent their districts from all over NSW at five separate venues in Sydney’s west.
The weather was kind to the participants and the day was largely incident free so a big congratulations to all of the sides that participated on the day.
NRL stars Josh Mansour, Lachlan Coote and Shane Shackleton (Panthers) showed off their green-thumbs when they planted 500 trees as part of a joint initiative celebrating National Tree Day.
This annual tournament is the biggest of its kind in Australia and brings schools from all over NSW to compete.
Other special guests involved were John Chalk, NSWRL Chairman, Martin Meredith, NSWRL Development Manager and Alan Pendleton, Mayor of Blacktown City.
Schools from Newcastle, the Central Coast and South Sydney areas dominated the finals with Coogee and Claymore winning their divisions for the second year running.
It was also pleasing to see a high volume of female participants on the day, particularly in the 10B Final. Congratulations to all the winners in the Primary schools section of the carnival.
