Women’s Football descended on Eden on the weekend with 50 female players taking part in Exhibition matches at the Eden Football Ground. The development grade fixture where Eden defeated Pambula was an entre’ for what followed where Eden, Pambula and Bega played four matches to conclude a wonderfu day of football.
The afternoon of football was a great sign for women's football in the Sapphire Coast AFL with the matches played at a high intensity although being exhibition matches.
After the league contributed 12 girls to the South Coast youth girls representative side a week earlier, the initiative hosted by the Whalers was a further sign that the presence of women's football in the area is on the rise.
Football Operations Coordinator Jarrod Moore praised the clubs efforts for putting on a wonderful day of football.
‘It's a credit to the Pambula, Bega and especially Eden football clubs for coming together and putting on such a great afternoon of football. It shows that we have some fantastic female footballers in the area.’

a boost within the Eden area’.
On the day Eden took the honours with the first side defeating Bega and their second side defeating Pambula in some entertaining football. Pambula rounded out the day defeating Bega in the concluding match.
