2016 starts an exciting chapter for the Narooma Lions AFL senior and junior club with Mick Clothier being appointed new senior coach by the new AFL committee.
Mick brings with him the last two premierships in a row as the Under16’s Narooma AFL coach, as well as a wealth of experiences as a player and past coach of the AFL club.
“I’m really looking forward to bringing through the junior players from last year, as they emerge into the senior club this year, and bringing a bit of extra talent into the club, as we plan and want to be very competitive this year and play finals footy,” Mick said.
Club treasurer Nanette Parker said the club was looking very good with the role out new and improved club merchandise with new updated AFL jumpers, new club polo’s and training shirts, as shown by worn by group, as well as caps, singles, bags and pull overs.
“The new merchandise is already proving to be very successful, with many orders already received,” Nanette said.
The Narooma AFL Club also very proud to continue its partnership with the Narooma Golf Club as the major sponsor for the Club.
“This was a significant and important partnership, as we have worked with the Narooma Golf Club for many years, and we enjoy the atmosphere and welcome reception the AFL club gets from golf club”, Lions vice president Allan Taylor said.
A “Meet the Coach” night is being set up for Friday, Feb. 5 at 6pm at Narooma Golf Club, which Mick wants to meet all past, present and future players, as well as sponsors and supporters of the AFL Lions.
He will outline where he sees the club future and the AFL Lions club will put on a few nibbles and drinks for this to happen. Everyone is most welcome to attend.
This starts the season for the club and training will start down at Bill Smyth Oval on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 5pm.
Official Junior and Senior registration day will be Saturday, March 5 at Bill Smyth Oval.
