Tathra/Bega v Pambula
With a number of key outs for Pambula, most notably Aaron Proctor to the Wadonga Bulldogs could this be the end of Pambula’s dominance? Having claimed flags in 2014 and 2015 and lightning premierships in 2014, 2015 and 2016 the Panthers will be looking to build on their week one win against Eden against the newly formed Tathra/Bega side. This will be the match of the round. Will Pambula’s winning streak come to an end? Player to Watch: Kel Evans, 2015 rookie of the year set for a big 2016.
Merimbula v Narooma
The Diggers got off to a great start for their 2016 season defeating the Bermagui Breakers by 60 odd points last weekend. Meanwhile the Lions young guns couldn't quite get it done against the Tathra/Bega side with a slow start to the season. The Lions will be looking to bounce back this weekend against a side that is aiming to go one better in 2016 which is shaping to be a very even competition in 2016. Player to Watch, Daniel Worden, Diggers asst coach had a big week 1 after returning to the Diggers from the Illawarra Lions.
Women’s Division
Couple of big games this weekend for the women’s division. Tathra/Bega will take on the Pambula Panthers at Lawrence Park. Whilst taking the field at the lightning premiership, both these young sides were taking part in some exciting football with a high level of skill and remarkable speed. This matchup may determine who goes into week three as favourites for the inaugural premiership.
In the second game this weekend, Eden travel to Tuross to take on the giants. The Whalers have been pioneers for the women’s competition over the past few years and will be looking to prove themselves against a youthful Broulee/ Moruya side that has once of the most exciting players in the competition in Maddie Czubra. Player to Watch, Maddie Czubra, BM Giants.
Under 16’s
At Berrambool Oval this weekend we may see who is the favourite for the under 16 premiership in 2016. The Lions who have claimed the past two under 16 premierships have lost a number of players to senior football in 2016 and will have to be at their best in 2016 to claim a three peat in the under 16’s. The Diggers who claimed victory in week one will be really tested this weekend against the Lions. In the second matchup this weekend Pambula will take on Bega/Tathra at Lawrence Park. The Panthers will be one of the front runners in 2016 and will be looking to get off to a good start in 2016 as they build from 2015. Player to Watch, Jeremy Sly, Narooma.
Under 13’s
This weekends game of the round sees Merimbula host Narooma in what is shaping as an important matchup early in the 2016 season. Narooma had a convincing win against Bega/Tathra last season and are building on an impressive 2015 season whereas the reigning premiers will be looking to get their season back on track after a loss to Bermagui last weekend. Bermagui travel to Tuross this weekend as they look to build on their round 1 victory whilst the Giants will be looking for a competitive match like they put up last weekend. In the final match Bega/ Tathra host Pambula in another exciting contest. Player to Watch, Bill Sutherland, Bega.
Under 11’s
Eden are back in the junior ranks this weekend as they travel north to take on the Giants as a young Eden side will aim to gain their first win against a experienced Giants side. Narooma under 11’s are looking exciting in 2016 and will again test themselves against the Diggers this weekend in an exciting matchup. In the last match of the round the Panthers and Bega/Tathra will be looking for their first wins of 2016 at Lawrence Park. Player to Watch, Tasman Simons, BM Giants.
