YARRAVILLE SEDDON EAGLES
There is an air of optimism at Yarraville Oval this season, with solid numbers on the track a sign of good things to come.
With a host of new emerging players coming through its successful Under 16A premiership side and a number of familiar faces returning, President Tony Sticca says the Eagles are ready to return to the winners board.
Teams fielding in 2015:
In total, the club will field close to 12 teams this season.
How has the pre-season been?
The pre-season turnouts has been solid and there is an air of optimism. It has been welcome news with the return of some of the Eagles players who last played in 2013 and who have come back to the club to add depth to the playing list as well as help the re-development of our senior teams.
Who are some of the noteworthy signings for 2015?
Some of our new signings include Jason Harmes, Gordon Hillsdon, Travis Anderson, Ashley Craig, Kevin Upton, Will Overton-Skinner, and Dean Henneman.
What are your expectations for the new season?
In 2015 we will continue to bring younger players through who have been part of the club’s junior programme, and with the inclusion of some experienced players to help them develop, we are looking for success on the field. Our target is to be playing senior finals in 2015. Our junior programme has been very successful in recent years and we plan to continue our development focus with our juniors. Off the field, we will continue to work on restructuring our administration and to give the club a solid base for future development.
Who are some of the young up and coming players to look out for this year?
From those who got a taste of senior football last year, we look forward to seeing further development of Andy Panow, Josh Hahnel, James Harrison, Joel Baker, Nick Fry and Nick Tsaloukis. We also look forward to seeing the progress from a large crop of players from last year’s U16A premiers including Tom Webster, Liam Murray, Alex Bouris, Mason Jacobs, Matt Wright, Leo Larizza, Dimitri Bolkas, Ben Wagland, Kyle Blake, and many more.
Have you had any staff/coaching and manager changes?
Dean Callaway, our Reserves coach from 2014, has taken up the challenge to shape our seniors as Senior Coach. He will be supported by Ray Davis on the sidelines, as well as Jason Harmes as a playing assistant coach and Ash Craig also as a playing assistant coach.
2015 Captain:
Our senior captain for 2015 season will be Gareth Newton.
Upcoming events:
- Our Round 1 at home (versus North Footscray) is our Life Members Day, a great opportunity to welcome back all our Life Members including those from our predecessor clubs Kingsville/ Yarraville, Seddon and Yarraville Juniors.
- Our Round 4 match at home versus West Footscray is scheduled as our Past Players Day, and we are looking at a great turnout for this match.
