Netball Report Day 1- AM

The netball games started this morning at 8.00am being held at the Parap netball courts Ross Smith Drive Parap.

It was an early start for all with all games kicking of at the same time. I would like to thank the very supportive ADF soccer squad who got out of bed early to support both the Australian squad and the Royal Air Force team.

They were able to sit and watch from the same position as both Defence Force teams played each other on Court 3.

ADF (54) V RAF (9)
ADF got of to a good start with Paula Vetter linking the centre court area into attack; her feeding of the ball around the circle had the supporters Ahing at her quick movement and well placed passes in to the circle.
RAF were not able to get their game into a flowing pattern as their coach (Ann Norman) would have liked. The ADF defences were able to turn the ball over at will and send it down to their goalers at the other end and score with ease. The RAF defenders were on kept on their toes with the ball being turned over on most occasions as it went into the RAF forward area.
The shooting accuracy was set up in the first quarter with Charlotte Pushman putting in 12 from 13 shots

NT (78) v PNG (36)
NT started the game well with the first quarter score line at 24 - 7, NT was able to bring the ball down the court from just about any area into either Peta Whelan (GA) or Danni Howell (GS). The way NT were able to move the ball ease would have pleased their coach Helen Black as she works on giving all of her players good court time this week.
NT changed 5 players at half time bringing Emma Cameron to WD and Shannon Byrne onto GD.
In the second half PNG were able to bring the ball into their scoring area (Oti Nau 8 - 11) allowing them to score 20 goals for the half.
The game for PNG will allow their players to work together and build towards other games as the week goes on.

Singapore Youth (80) v Japan (19)
The game started fast with both teams getting used to the Darwin early morning weather, Japan played strong in the first quarter putting in 11 goals to Singapore's 22. The ball was being worked well for both sides through the centre court area.

Singapore put more pressure over the ball in the second quarter and were able to give the ball into their goalers on more occasions with Li Ling putting in 12 from 16 attempts.

The Japan coaching staff would have been happy with their players effort as their player's moved the ball around the court against taller player's.
Mee Hong the Singapore coach was able to rotate her players especially rotating Li and Veronica Clarke in the shooting circle.
