Premier & Social Adults Competition Information

2019 ADULTS COMPETITION INFORMATION

All games will be played at Central Energy Trust Arena, in Arena 4 (B&M & Ballroom)

PLAYING NIGHTS:             Wednesdays

STARTING NIGHT:            Wednesday 22 May 2019

FINALS NIGHT:                  Wednesday 18 September 2019

MOUTH GUARDS ARE COMPULSORY IN THE PREMIER GRADES

FEES:

  • Premier Team Fees will be $1450.00 Per team, this covers 15 weeks of basketball through term 2 and 3. Teams will need to provide a nominated referee, this person will be used in case of not enough Basketball Manawatu referees to cover the Premier Competition, full training will be given. Scorebench duty will be covered for all Premier Adults games.
  • Social Grade Team Fees will be $65.00 per team per night.
  • Full payment must be received by Friday 5 July 2019. Teams that have not paid by then will not be included in the competition.

 

PLAYER REGISTRATIONS:

  1. Premier teams may register 12 players per team, all year group teams must have a minimum of 8 and no more than 12 players. Unless approved by the Competitions & Events Manager.
  2. All players must register via the online portal

  1. Premier teams who want to bring in new players to their team during the season will need to contact Basketball Manawatu to register the new player and pay the $25.00 registration fee before that player is eligible to take the court.
  2. PREMIER GRADE PLAYERS CANNOT PLAY IN THE SOCIAL GRADE.
  3. Players must have played 5 regular season games to be eligible to play in semifinals and finals.

 

TIMING:

  • Premier Games will be 6.00pm, 7.30pm, 9.00pm.
  • Social Grade will be 6.00 or 6.30pm, 7.00 or 7.30pm, 8.00 or 8.30pm.
  • Teams unable to make their game in any given week must advise Basketball Manawatu of their default by telephone or email before Tuesday 5pm of the playing week.

 

 

2019 PREMIER COMPETITION RULES

THE GAMES VIDEO WILL NOT BE REVIEWED REGARDING MISSED POINTS.

MOUTH GUARDS ARE COMPULSORY FOR TEAMS IN PREMIER GRADE.

 

PREMIER GRADES:

  • FIBA Rules apply
  • 4x 10-minute stop clock games, with 24 second shot clock.
  • 2 minutes between quarters, 3-minute half time.
  • Games will start on time as per the draw. Teams must have 5 players ready to play wearing proper uniform and court shoes. A default will be registered for any team who cannot field a full team 5 minutes after the game is meant to start. The clock shall be set at 5-minutes from the scheduled game start time. The game will start with 5 minutes left of regulation time in the first quarter.
  • All teams are to be in correct uniform, any members not in correct uniform will result in technical fouls (to go against the player) to be taken before the start of the game.
  • Basketball Manawatu will not tolerate swearing on court, any player heard swearing will be given an instant technical foul.
  • In the event of a draw teams will play 5 minutes of overtime, this will continue until a winner has been found, full FIBA rules will apply to this.

 

SOCIAL GRADE:

  • The game clock will start at the appointed game time and teams will be penalized 2 points per 30 seconds for late arrival, up to 5 minutes, at which time the game is defaulted.
  • 4x 12-minute running clock games, no 24 second shot clock rule.
  • 1 minute between quarters and half time.
  • Teams may only have 1, 30 second time out per half and no timeouts being allowed in the last 2 minutes of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd quarters and the final 3 minutes of the 4th quarter.
  • Substitutions can be made on any whistle, however no substitutions in the final 2 minutes of the 4th quarter, unless a player has fouled out.
  • Fouls are to be called, 5 fouls and out of the game. Free throws will also be awarded.
