Matthews storms home on special evening

The AFL North Coast hosted their annual Presentation evening on Friday night in front of approximately eighty people at the Coffs Hotel.

Like their domination on the paddock all season, Sawtell players took home the majority of awards.

Luke Matthews claimed the Seniors Best & Fairest, storming home with a perfect 12 votes in the final four rounds of vote counting to finish ahead of Sawtell teammate, Jack Gillingham and Nambucca Valley star, Aaron Clarke.

Kyah Schwartz claimed the Reserves' award, while Nathan Harris came out ahead of Liam Carroll in Under 18 polling.

The night was also special with the announcement of the inaugural Team of the Decade (2000-09). Most former and current players named were in attendance, with Brad Giri being named captain, and Tony Waterfall vice-captain, whilst Russ Matthews was a clear choice as coach of the decade.
