OPEN LETTER FROM MARK HEANEY- AFL NORTHERN NSW REGIONAL MANAGER
I hope everyone is looking forward to a great Christmas. We are finalizing exciting changes to our staffing structure for 2011 that I'd like to inform you of as we'll be gearing up for major events in January / February & March.
Regional Manager - incl. Talent & Coaching
My role will still oversee all AFL activities in the area but with extra staffing support I will be working the equivalent of 2 days per week in Talent / Coaching & Swans Academy. This will involve starting the Swans Academy for NC/MNC Talent players, attending any sporting opportunities for Talent ID and attending TPP Carnivals. Linking these events to promote coach education in the region will be an aspect of this role.
Development Manager / Competition Operations Manager - Full Time
This new role will oversee our development programs and staff as well as undertaking the operations of the leagues under the AFL North Coast Board (presently AFL NC Seniors & AFL NC Juniors). The Board has already found 2 major sponsors to assist in funding this position. It is a management position that is currently being advertised on the AFL website closing on December 17. It will allow volunteers to spend more time on their clubs and give them a permanent point of contact on league operational issues.
Development Officer- Permanent Part Time - Mid North Coast
Rachel Lowe has been appointed on a Permanent Part Time basis to oversee development programs and support clubs on the Mid North Coast. Growing Club, Community & School Auskick are priorities. Scott Abercrombie will assist as a casual Development Officer and TPP coach.
Any significant increase in resources in the future is dependent on the MNC Juniors being in Governance structure that involves Strategic Planning. This would allow support such as that outlined in the Development / Operations position outlined above.
Indigenous Programs Officer - Coffs Harbour PaCE Program- Full Time
A new position to deliver one of 5 Parent & Community Engagement Centres(PaCE) at Orara High School in 2011/2012. To be advertised in early 2011.
School Based Trainee - Sport & Recreation
Aaron Boatfield will continue into the 2nd year of his school based traineeship providing administration support as well as assisting school and community programs in Macleay Valley & North Coast.
Development Officer-Casual; North West NSW
Hamish Pearce will take over from Katie Howard to deliver community and school programs and support Auskick Centres and the growth of the junior competition in North West NSW as he continues his study at UNE.
Casual Development Officers - Northern NSW
These positions are the face of our organisation in schools and are widely respected in the community for the great job they currently do. We continue to look for new, keen AFL enthusiasts to deliver school programs and support clubs.
We hope this provides a structure to support the growth in the quality and quantity of AFL in Northern NSW in 2011 and beyond.
