Port Macquarie now sit just outside the top two on percentage after a nailbiting one point win over North Coffs at Stuart Park.
In a enthralling contest, the Magpies came from four goals behind in the final term to clinch the result in the final minute. The second-half finished in a dead heat after the Magpies held a one point lead at half-time.
Kicking into a strong breeze, the Magpies started the stronger with Jesse Schmidt combining with Matthew Lill. Lill, returning from injury, played mostly at full-forward and was a handful for the entire match.
North Coffs, after a quarter-time grilling, linked up well through the run provided by Tom Campbell and Josh Drum. Down back, Darren Funston again led his side superbly.
The Kangaroos continued this momentum in the third stanza, with Ryan Turner kicking three of his five goals, including a clever left-foot snap.
The difference in the match was big Michael Kemp. Kemp, was a tower of strength in the ruck and across half-forward for the victors. With this individual brilliance and the wind at their backs, the Magpies came home with a wet sail and edged in front in the final minute to the disbelief of an undermanned, yet brave, Kangaroos outfit.

The Coffs Swans registered their first win in the AFL North Coast competition this season with a gutsy two-goal win at Fitzroy Oval.
Nambucca started well, kicking accurately to open up a handy lead at the end of the first quarter. The Swans pegged back the gap heading into half-time with Shannon Burow and Dave Colman active across the centre.
The red and whites, with a sniff of victory, applied further pressure after the main break with Sam Turner lively up forward kicking four goals. Aaron Clarke matched Turner's contribution up the other end in another eye-catching display that would have pleased representative coach, Peter Chadwick, who was in attendance.
In an even final term, it was a relieved Swans unit who held on despite some nervous moments, ahead of their trip south to face the resurgent Magpies.

Sawtell maintained their unbeaten run with a resounding 166-point victory over Grafton at Ellem Oval.
The Saints always had control over the contest after kicking eight goals in each of the quarters leading up to the main break.
There were eleven individual goalscorers in a further demonstration of the evenness of the Saints outfit across the board.
Ethan Kelly had another strong game in the ruck, while fellow youngsters, Simon Taylor and Pat Gillingham had an impact around the ground and on the scoreboard.
The tide of goals continued in the second half in another disappointing display by the Tigers despite the best efforts of Graeme Connolly and Justin Darby.
