Sawtell continued their golden run leading into the final series with a ten-goal victory over a gallant Lions’ outfit at Richardson Park.
The Lions were able to restrain Sawtell’s scoring prowess at stages, but inevitably the class of the premiership favourites shone through in the final result.
Mark Couzens marked his return from injury with three goals and proved a strong foil for Ben Hooke who strengthened his lead on top of the goal kicking tally with another six goals.
The Saints held a six goal margin at half-time and despite Nambucca becoming more threatening in front of goal in the third term; they rallied to extend on their lead at every change.
The midfield division was again impressive with Jai Hardy and the ever-reliable, Luke Matthews dominating the key statistics.
Eric Linares proved a target, yet, was the only multiple goalkicker for the Lions, as Aaron Clarke’s influence was well nullified.
The win heightens the likelihood of the Saints finishing the regular season undefeated with only four rounds remaining.

North Coffs racked up their largest score of the season in a one-way rout at the Coffs Coast Leisure Park.
The Kangaroos started and finished brilliantly, in particular, with a ten-goal final quarter a highlight of their performance.
Full-forward, Ben Sykes continued his hot streak in front of the big sticks with a dozen goals; his second consecutive double-figure haul.
Grafton were powerless to stop the onslaught and despite the best efforts of Sam Morrison and Graeme Connolly in the centre ruck duels, they were simply outclassed by a slicker unit.
Darren Funston again led from the front and like many of his teammates; were able to pinpoint targets inside the forward line.
After their impressive victory last weekend, the loss leaves Grafton rooted at the bottom of the ladder. They leaked points, while the Kangaroos continue to create more opportunities which is a positive sign heading forward.

A win was vital after defeats in their last two games and the Magpies responded in fine style, establishing an early lead from which they never looked back.
Full forward Greg Conway scored the first goal as the home side came out firing from the start.
With Justin Mohr driving through the midfield, the Pies put the Swans back line under constant pressure throughout the match.
The result of this was further goals for Jessie Schmidt and Ben Hutchins as the Magpies took charge.
The intensity of the first quarter from the Magpies was lacking after the break as the Swans enjoyed more possession and territory.
Despite great play in the half back line from Greg Dean, the visitors scored two goals to get back into the contest.
Two goals in a minute from Schmidt quelled the comeback, but another Swans goal saw them win the
quarter to narrow the gap to 39 points at the main break.
Following some stern words from coach Scott Payne, the Magpies awoke from their momentary slumber to again establish supremacy.
Craig Dicker and Matt Lill began to take control and this soon paid dividends on the score board.
Lill goaled three times and set up another two as the Swans ran out of steam and finished the quarter without troubling the score board as the Magpies moved out of sight.
The final quarter was played in similar vein as the Pies continued to get amongst the goals.
Lill and Hutchins scored again as Conway brought his total to six for the day.
The manner of victory will be a huge confidence boost to the Magpies with only four games of the regular season to go.
