Young Coffs Swans ruckman, Remy Bordignon has recently returned from the Australian School Sport Championships in Perth.
It all started in May, when Bordignon was selected to represent NSW (the blue-pups) in the Championships.
In July he travelled to Barooga, on the NSW-VIC border, to train with the team in preparation for the national event.
The following week the team met in Sydney at the SCG for a final training run and were presented with their playing jersey by a former bluepups and current Sydney Swans assistant coach, John Longmire.
The team then flew to Perth for the competition.
The first game saw the NSW team defeat ACT 33 pts to 13. As expected, Victoria and SA were exceptionally strong but NSW provided good competition to QLD and NT, losing to NT in the last few minutes of the game.
The home team, WA also proved to be too strong for the smaller NSW squad. Overall the Bluepups finished 6th out of 7 teams.
Remy performed well in the rucks winning the majority of contests and, as one of six best players for NSW, was awarded a Team GWS playing jersey (signed by Kevin Sheedy), for his efforts.
The carnival also included the National Under 15’s where the Bluedogs (NSW Under 15’s) finished 6th out of 8 teams.
The Bordignon family wish to thank the Coffs Harbour Swans Junior AFL club for the support in helping to get Remy to Perth as well as all those who purchased tickets in the raffle.
