Sawtell secured their third successive premiership with a dominant 91-point win over Port Macquarie, sealing a perfect unbeaten season in the Senior grade.
Like a year ago against North Coffs, the Saints were in complete control throughout the match.
A six-goal opening quarter was the sign of things to come as Luke Matthews wreaked havoc through the middle third.
With the weather clearing, the Saints were able to reap the benefits of their expansive ball-use as they sealed the contest by half-time.
Port Macquarie were unable to have an influence in the one-on-one duels, with Sawtell continually able to win the contested ball with relative ease.
Again impressive was their spread of goalkickers. With Port’s key defender, Craig Dicker drawing even with Ben Hooke, there were ten other Saints able to make a contribution on the scoreboard.
Down back, the Saints were safe as a house with Daniel Cullen and Brett Finnie nullifying the influence of the Port forward line, while Elliott Schmitt did a number on Port’s main avenue to goal, Jesse Schmidt.
While the Magpies were more competitive in the second half, it was the Saints who showed they were the fitter unit. Simon Taylor was destructive on the edges, as Port struggled to keep up Sawtell’s high tempo.
The most impressive performance of the day came from the eventual Woodlock Medallist, Jack Gillingham. Backing up from leading his Under 18 side to a ten-point victory, Gillingham was in and under every pack, wrapping up his second medal in a row for best on ground.
All in all, it was a sweet day for the Saints, showing that no side was close to challenging their claim to being one of the most successful units of the modern era in the North Coast competition.

There was something for the Magpies to smile about with their Reserves side sealing their eighth-successive premiership in the grade.
As has been the case in recent years against the Saints, they enjoyed the better of proceedings, albeit in a tight-fought affair.
Only a three-goal third quarter gave the Magpies the breathing space they needed.
Sawtell threw everything at the Port outfit in the final quarter with six scoring shots.
Gordon Wiegold was influential in the midfield, as was Troy Kelly in a more workman-like role.

The Saints also secured the Under 18s premiership in the closest match of the day against a gallant North Coffs outfit.
In very wet conditions, the score was even in a low-scoring first half.
The crowd came to their feet after the main break, with Sawtell able to secure a minor lead, one in which they were able to maintain.
Patrick Gillingham led a dedicated showing from the Saints. Ben Moffatt and Jack Gillingham also showed their skills in the wet weather.
Elliott Schmitt also bobbed up with three impressive goals, as his long kicking was a feature.
Josh Lansdowne was the main target for the Kangaroos, and has been indicative of their impressive as a side in the last portion of the season.
