The AFL North Coast will change the Senior competition to a 16-a-side competition after the motion was passed at Monday night’s Committee meeting.
To move in line with similar measures adopted in the Under 18 and Reserves competitions, the clubs gave majority support to the innovative concept.
AFL North Coast President, Jim Woodlock believes the motion which has a holistic focus in aiming to improve the competition.
“The new format will alleviate the issues clubs have had in the past rustling up the required number of players to take the field,” he said.
“With up to six players allowed on the interchange bench, having two less players on each side should also produce a more attractive and brand of football.”
