In 2011 the Senior and Junior umpires will be training together with Peter Chadwick looking after the coaching of the senior umpires, while Mitchell Turner is going to provide coaching to the junior umpires that are keen to learn how to umpire. New junior umpires will participate in the AFL’s green shirt program. This program is designed so that new junior umpires are easily identified through a green shirt, so that clubs and the community know that they are a new umpire learning the skills, while where possible they are supported by a more experienced umpire on game day. The green shirt kit costs $30 and is great value as it includes a sports bag, shirt, shorts, socks, hat, sweatbands, water bottle, whistle, and interactive learning DVD.
Umpiring is a great way to be involved in our great sport and teaches skills such as decision making, communication and leadership, while you also get payed to umpire games. The North Coast umpires group is looking for new Field umpires in junior and senior football, while Boundary and Goal umpires are needed in senior football. If you are interested in being involved then please contact Matt Crawley 0431 877 173, Peter Chadwick (Seniors) 0438 310 904 or Mitchell Turner (Juniors) 0432 086 932.
Training is held at Coffs Coast Sports and Leisure Park (Oval opposite the International Stadium, On Stadium Drive, Coffs Harbour on Thursday nights from 6pm till 7.00pm. Feel free to get along to training and join the fun
