TOUCH FOOTY GALA DAY THE FIRST FUNDRAISER FOR LUKE O’NEILL FAMILY
THERE are still some spots available for a day of fun this Sunday as the Camden Haven gathers in memory of one of its favourite sporting sons in Luke O’Neill.
This weekend’s touch footy gala day is the first of two events aimed at supporting Luke’s family in these trying times.
Friends, family and ex-teammates of Luke’s are being encouraged to participate by turning up at the Laurieton sporting fields this Sunday from 9am to get involved in the inaugural Luke O’Neill Charity Shield event.
"There’ll be an opportunity to have a round around in a game of touch but the most important thing is coming down and having some fun with your friends and family," organiser Kaine Faddy said.
The day will consist of: touch football in a round robin style event with a combination of Camden Haven touch and Kendall touch rules, each team is to have a maximum of 11 players with 7on the field at one time, teams can be mixed, men or ladies as long as you only have 7 on the field at one time it doesn't matter what gender.
You must be born 2002 or earlier to participate.
The winning side of the day will take home the inaugural Luke O’Neill charity shield.
Teams need to be nominated to Kaine either by SMS or call on 0428112853 by no later than Friday.
The cost to enter a side in the day is $110 with all proceeds of the day going to the O'Neill family, each team will be guaranteed at least 3 games on the day with each game going for 25 minutes.
There will be a dash for cash event to see who is the fastest male and female on the day, a prize for the best look alike NRL or AFL player, there will be plenty of field entertainment for those not playing including jumping castles and a bungee machine that you have to see to believe.
"We want to make sure everyone is having fun so even if you’re not playing come along and watch - but bring your joggers as no touch football experience is require3d," Kaine said.
There will be items on display for the upcoming auction and fun night (at LUSC on June 22) and you can purchase tickets for that event also.
To make further enquiries about the touch footy day call Kaine on 0428112853 or for the auction night call Michael Whiting on 0401 434 892.
