After a lengthy hearing that lasted over two hours when the Chairman handed down his findings, the Satwell contingent breathed a sigh of relief.
Matthews is one the Saints key players and although he received a dressing down from the tribunal his clean record and a lack of evidence was enough to clear his name. He was however warned not to appear before the tribunal again.
This weekends Grand Final appers to be one of the best we will see on the North Coast with Sawtell nearlly at full strength against the powerful Port Magpies outfit.
Port Macquarie has been the form side all season and will no doubt use the clearing of Matthews as motivation to get them across the line.
Grand Finals this weekend see the Port Magpies v Coffs Swans in the Under 18's at 11am.
Reserve Grade is Camden Haven v Coffs Swans at 12.50pm.
The main game between Sawtell and Port Macquarie commencing at 2.30pm.
