THE AFL North Coast Board met on Wednesday night and was informed by Chairman, Gordon Wiegold, he would be stepping down, effective immediately from his position as Chair and Board Member.
The AFL NSW/ACT's State Operating and Major Projects Manager, Joseph La Posta, has nominated and been accepted to occupy a casual vacancy on the board for the remainder of 2014.
Mr La Posta who attended the board meeting said Mr Wiegold should be proud of his contribution to football in the North Coast region.
"On behalf of the entire board and wider football community, we would like to thank Gordon for his contribution as board member over the past three years," Mr La Posta said.
"We wish Gordon all the best for the future and hope that he continues to be involved in community club football throughout the Mid North Coast and North Coast regions."
Mr La Posta will look to share best practice from the 12 other NSW/ACT affiliated leagues with the AFLNC Board and provide support and leadership to the existing board members.
A decision regarding the new Chairperson will be made at the upcoming board meeting on February 24.
