The Swans won at Port Macquarie against the defending premiers for the first time in over a decade in an epic encounter. Travelling away from home, the credentials of the young Swans could only be enhanced as they battled hard to grind out a 16 point win.
Sawtell still sit one game behind but boosted their already healthy percentage with a 30 goal win over the Grafton Tigers. Ben Hooke kicked half the goals and again got great supply from Mark Couzens and Les Cohen in the massive victory. Daniel Zacek was a standout for the losing side who again struggled to travel and combat the attacking flair of the Saints.
North Coffs, meanwhile, won well against the Nambucca Valley Lions, who easily turned out their best performance of the year in front of their home crowd. It was inevitably the class of Sam Dawes and Darren Funston in the midfield that set up a lot of the 'Roos thrusts forward. Their well structured forward line led by Jordan O'Connor and Trent Cook, a new player for the blue and whites, was efficient and made the most of their chances. Nambucca again were well served by Luke Benson and Ray McGrath who were amongst the thick of the action.
