Saying this, the Magpies have got the runs on the board, defeating the Saints by 21 points in their previous encounter at home.
Another tight tussle is expected this weekend with the older bodies sure to relish a week off if they win this clash.
Adam Davis and Mark Clark have good form for the Magpies and depending on the line-ups, should get strong support from youngsters in Luke Long and Owen Kozminski. Paul Sheldon is trying to break through the barriers to return for this clash after sustaining an arm injury.
The Saints will be well served by the experience of Steve Jackson and Michael Boogaard. Sam Johnston is an accomplished player, whilst Kyah Schwartz has played well of late.
This one could go either way.
Who will play for the undefeated Swans?
The Coffs Swans are unbeaten in the Under 18s competition and are favourites to continue that billing against an improved Saints outfit.
The question is how many will be rested or looked after in preparation for the Senior clash?
Many are touting the side as the best Under 18 side ever produced on the North Coast. The response would be that is quite possible, but they have not faced any decent opposition on a consistent basis this season.
With Shane Adams and the Burow brothers enjoying a good year in first grade, they are well-seasoned to make a strong contribution if they line up for the Swans. Add to this, the possibility of Fraser Duryea, Hamish Pearce and Sam Turner lining up in the Swans midfield, and it is a showcase of the next breed of talent on the North Coast.
The Swans are short of a run, however, having not played a game for over a month. Their last match was against the then-second-placed Lions, one in which they won comfortably by 56 points.
Sawtell will be looking to turn the tables and cause an upset as the Swans have done to them in previous finals series. Their side is young, with the bulk of their side stepping up from the Under 16s. Simon Taylor and Jack Gillingham are State representatives and will work hard for the Saints, whilst Blake Brissett and Elliott Schmidt are two potential stars of the future.
Coming off a near 100 point win against the Saints a couple of weeks ago, they have form behind their belt and will test the Swans in a skilful and entertaining clash.
The Swans can be their own worst enemy and must be switched on to avoid falling over at the last hurdle.
This match is worth a look alone.
